Does anyone know how to get the power on/off switch to bits without breaking anything on the above vacuum cleaner. Mine needs a new cable and while I'm more than capable of replacing the cable I can't see how to get it to bits without resorting to a flame thrower.

have you tried visting Dyson's website ? When we had a problem with our hoover once,i visited that and its step by step help section was excellent.

I cant see them offering advice with regards to power switches though for legal reasons.

Hoover ? An example of a product becoming part of the english language - I of course meant Vacuum cleaner !
Just get rid of the Dyson they are just a headache ! Why does it need a new cable .... no vacuum I have ever had has needed that ??? Sorry I am just so anti Dyson after many problems, and after the chats we have had on here I am not alone!
I agree with lady-p-gold my parents had one which needed a new motor just after the warranty expired and it cost a fortune. It gave them all sorts of problems - so what did they do - bought another one obviously. This has also had a new motor. utter sh1t. I have had a Goblin wet and dry for 15yr without anything needing replacing.
