Toilet Flush
7 Answers
Toilet cistern keeps filling up every half hour. I can see a steady flow of water down the back of the inside of the toilet bowl. What needs to be replaced/approximate price and is it easy for a plumber to fix - approx. how long would this take?

The float level is too high Musky. Take the lid off and have a look. It would take a plumber about 10 seconds to adjust. Usually a very simple DIY job. Perhaps taking a little longer if the inlet valve is faulty and needs replacing. Lots of different arrangements . Come back with more detail of yours if you fancy a go at it.

Had the same problem myself. We have a toilet that has the flush button on top of the cistern. The problem is the seal from the cistern to the pan. We took the part out (which you just had to turn the whole unit) cleaned it & put it back in. Unfortunately the leak was still there although not as much. I then went to plumb centre with the bit and bought a new one and fitted it. £11.74 + VAT.
Google images of you cistern and then go from there.
Good luck

Found a local plumber on mybuilder.com website. Plumber came and replaced the ball valve but the problem remains exactly the same. Not pleased. Got charged £60 for the job, including parts. The plumber now says that he has to purchase a new 'syphony' thing as the seal at the bottom has bubbled and is not sealing properly. (Have a top flush dual chamber). I am told that it costs about £20 to £25, plus labour.
