Quinie, where are you???
Here,scorpio, but I'm blaikard-meaning I don't know the answer lol
1 Don't be ?
2 We say that to someone we meet in the street meaning "It's a nice day"
Don't be unsporting...according to this in the school (skweel) section

Found it! skycie means unsporting
Hi,slaney, found it in my Teach Yourself Doric book but I must admit I've never heard it before.
:-)
Hi quinie, having a quick look through it now - I can remember my mother telling me I looked peelie-wally....
Please translate? :)
Hi again, scorpiojo, sorry for the delay- I was at a fashion show tonight. Peelie wally means sickly or pale . slaney,i was always thrawn (stubborn) and hallyrackit (boisterous)lol.I've enjoyed looking through the book
My MIL use to use peely-wally...

and describing a woman as Hackit, very uncomplimentary!
Thanks again, quinie. I've always been thrawn lol.

Thank you, boxtops. Won't ask what that means ;-)
Trust me, it's not nice....to be described as hackit I mean....

I have to admit to being thrawn too, especially when the weather is dreich or if there's a guy snell wind blawin'
Lol :)
My Granny spoke the Doric-our English relatives (and some of our Scottish ones!!) couldn't understand her.Off to bed now-I'm fair forfochen (very tired;exhausted) Gweed nicht!
Goodnight, quinie :)
