i was a US Army soldier. My commander told me to sign his name to documents when he was not there. Some uptight dork from the Pentagon came to our unit for a short tour of duty. He found out I was signing my commander's name and he decided he was going to try to prosecute me for forgery despite having permission to sign the man's signature. My commander typed a statement on my behalf, and as a joke he started to sign his signature and then had me finish it The charges were finally dropped because everyone told this Colonel that he was being an ass and to leave me alone because I was following orders.

Really? Is it ever legal to forge signatures? Why didn't they just allow you to sign your own?
