Dear Carakeel is really going through it at the moment, she cannot weight bear on her right leg due to the replacement knee coming loose in the lower half of her leg and awaiting another op to replace it, so she is back to using her crutches again.
The problem with this is she has painful hands due to very bad carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in one hand and still in pain after a carpel tunnel operation and arthritis in the other hand.
With her having so much pain in her hands from using her crutches we went back to the Physio at the hospital, they were bloody useless, the best they could come up with was padding the handle of her crutches. We asked if we could have a pair of the old type (under the arm) crutches, they said that they don't supply them any more because people don't usually have pain in their hands and their legs together. REALLY!!!!
So onto Facebook and looking to buy a pair of our own locally we asked on one of the local FB pages when someone gave me the above link and said they are fantastic. I ordered a pair and they were amazingly delivered the next day, well they really are great!
Obviously they aren't a miracle cure but being able to distribute the weight between the hand and the forearm has made walking so much easier. They are also a very affordable £79.00 and free delivery.
Totally impressed!!
Im not sure I should be advertising like this but if they can help others....

I have been to Orthotics and the Physio department, also Occupational Therapy, as it looks like I may have to have two operations now and my surgeon is really trying to make this as easy on me as possible. Basically, he has told me that the bone is breaking away from the implant and this is most likely caused by an infection. This means that he will have to open the knee, take implant out, clean area thoroughly. Then he will put a temporary knee in and inject antibiotics into the wound. I will then have to wait six weeks for the infection to be cleared and he will then take the temporary implant out again and put the permanent one in, which hopefully will last 15 yr +. As the two operations will severely traumatized the leg, he is ordering all the help he can, for which I am really grateful. When I spoke to the various departments, they all got really excited about my smart crutches and were also surprised that they are not more expensive. They have made a great difference to what I am able to do. My hands are no longer constantly painful and I am able to pick things up with them far better than before. The smartcrutches also seem to make me stand straighter and I feel far safer walking with them than with the hospital ones. So I really hope that those of you who have ordered them will find them as beneficial as I do. Best wishes to you all.xxx
