if someone owns & burial plot dies, who then owns the plot? & can it be signed over to someone else without the new owners permission?

Well, put it this way - I now own a single plot (my Husband is already there), if I were to change my mind about being buried with him as planned then the remaining space would become part of my estate.

the plot was for the owners daughter with the space to put themself & 2 others in ........ the owner died recently & the plot appears to have been signed over to someone other than the person who was in the will as recieving "the rest of the personal property", without that persons knowledge

Do you know whether the deceased signed it over before he died? If not, if he was the sole owner I'm not sure how it could be signed over after death

not signed over before death .............. trying to find out if it could legally be signed over without permission ............ round in circles !!

Do you know who it was signed over to and who signed it over?
Maybe there was clause that said it was his only while he was alive, so ownership reverted to the the church/cemetry.

I am not legally qualified or anything like that Spikey but from what you say it is definitely out of order,and sounds fishy to me,worth further investigation,try asking at Citizen's advice and see if they can be of any help if not someone in a legalcapacity is required I/, afraid,sorry can't be of more help.

2. Do you have a copy of the original bond/lease/contract?

These two are key points.
