Ericsson K610i Unlocking

I'm trying to find out if you can unlock these Sony Ericsson phones, I've heard that is is very difficult if not impossible ! I've been given one as a present but it's on Orange and I'm on T-Mobile.... I've got a memorable number and want to keep it, so I could transfer it to Orange if it's going to be a huge hassle.

Not much hassle to transfer ... phone T mobile and ask for a PAC code / number ... porting authorisation code ... then phone orange with the number and ask to take your number to them ... should take about 7-10 days now ... old sim will work until new sim they send you starts to work ... give or take a couple of hours ... this will work if you are payg or contract ... but if contract you will need to have had it 1yr or more since last upgrade / contract start date
