I have just been looing at at the hotel in Royal Albion Hotel in Brighton, as posted by Diamond1409 on the thread below. There are 6 different things you can rate the hotel on. One traveller has given 1 out of 5 for four of these categories, 2 out of 5 for one and 5 out of 5 for location. The overall rating has come up 5/5!!
Another at the same hotel has given 5 out of 5 for five of the categories and 3 out of 5 for the ls one yet the overall rating is 3 out of 5.

Reviewers are asked to submit scores for each separate category and then give an overall one. (i.e. TripAdvisor only averages scores across multiple reviews, not within a single review; it's up to the reviewer to determine an overall score, leaving him/her to give more or less weight to individual factors depending upon how he/she views their importance). So the reviewer has simply clicked the wrong box for the overall score.
one of the adverse reviews of the hotel I have used for thirty years ( o la la !) complained 'that it was a knocking shop' and [even worse ] in the bar on the ground floor - there were Men who had been Drinking.
and yeah... it there is a bar, you find men who have been drinking......
Thanks for that, I assumed the reviewer marked the 6 categories and then TripAdvisor worked out an overall score, I didn't realise that the reviewer did that as well, makes more sense now!!
