Am I the only person in this country who is sick to the back teeth of no win no fee adverts promising you the earth, with 'actors' saying how good these companies are and how much money they've managed to cream from the system with the claims ?

NO! Tel xxxx for a Loan are others which annoy me intensely. Car insurance 'driving you mad?'(Yes) Then there are all those adverts for music which come out which 'are the perfect gift for ....' any occasion you can imagine. Then there is the one which asks 'most people'.....

Bloody no win no naffing fee, bloody loans, ring tones aaagggghhhh, charities, and the worst of all "I C yes you can", oh can you!

Big load of #@!" ambulance chasers!!! Push everyone elses insurance premiums up!! The government should step in and scrap the no win no fee bandwagon!! If you've got a genuine insurance claim, you would get the legal fees paid for anyway wouldnt you??

No you are not the only one! They are so annoying...

"I slipped on a wet floor (because i obviously wasn't looking where i was going) and everything fell out my handbag so i thought i would just sue someone else for my being a silly person - where there's blame theres a claim!"

In a dim sounding slow voice...

"I was up on a roof an I put me and in bucket of ot tar an burnt meself, I got 3 fasand pand compensation"

Why did you put your hand in a bucket of pitch?

Who did he sue? His mum? for having a stoopid kid!

The ads are annoying I agree but no win no fees are a valueable service. There is no legal aid for injury claims any more, and your insurance won't generally cover such claims - it will only cover a claim for what is actually insured, such as a car damaged in an accident. The vast majority of people genuinely injured due to someone else's negligence therefore have no option but to go to one of these companies. Most claims are not from people slipping on wet floors or putting their hands in pitch, but people (including children) hurt in car accidents because of bad drivers.
Then sassenach, why do the ads portray slipping on floors etc, they must be saying "anything that happens to you is someone else fault, tell us and we'll sue them for you"
I'm not defending the ads but rather the service the companies behind them offer, which is perfectly legitimate. I've never seen one that says every accident must be someone else's fault. Sometimes they are someone else's fault, in which case if you're injured you're entitled to compensation. I don't see a problem with that. Also bear in mind the claims have to be considered to have a 50% or better chance of success so it's unlikely that a ridiculous case or a complete try-on would be accepted. I know people worry about compensation culture, and with some justification, but if someone close to you was seriously hurt you might have to use the services of one of these companies because there would be no other way of funding the claim. (I don't work for them by the way!)
