SpywareQuake is a anti-spyware program that is known to issue fake warnings on your computer in order to manipulate you into buying its full commercial version. The program is generally installed by a Trojan that automatically downloads and installs the program.

another trojan dropper for this was advised by mcafee this week, http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_139058.htm - if your antivirus is up to scratch, this should not present any problems. but if it does, there are ways of getting rid of spyaxe.

I use Norton Antivirus. It is up to date and detects the SpywareQuake Trojan as sa1.exe but then reports as "delete failed" only option is exclude or skip.
Question Author

Right now none of the antivirus or anti-spyware programs that I'm aware of will detect and remove SpywareQuake. The offending file that resists removal and causes reinfection appears to be C:\Windows\System32\stickrep.dll.

i was duped into buying spyhunter in this fashion but even worse, spyhunter also sends your details to spyware companies who infect you so if you use another spyware prog the items that spyhunter found are genuinely validated. terrible
