Males and females differ in the way they store fat, as do different races and ages. Females of normal weight tend to have more evenly distributed fat immediately inside the skin than do males but where on/in the body other deposits are concentrated differs significantly between the sexes (just have a close look at the differences in shape and it will become pretty obvious). There are significant amounts of fat within the abdominal cavity of even barely overweight people and this is regarded as normal and even essential. When internal deposits increase as the person moves into overweight status and beyond, organs can become stressed, even dangerously so. Once obese, both sexes converge as to where additional fat is placed and the more overweight they are the more similar the pattern/locations of additional fat deposits become. For a more detailed/precise description there is no doubt a wealth of sources on the internet and then you can ask genuinely knowledgeable specialists and/or scientists.
