Overnight Stays In Paris And Calais

On the return leg of my road trip in August I'll be spending 2 nights in Paris and 1 night in Calais (need to reach the car ferry at 9:30am), so I'm after two recommendations:

A decent but reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Paris.
Something similar for the single night in Calais. I'm told Calais is a bit of a dump (not my words) so a B&B/hotel not too far away would be good.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Calais is too frequently maligned. It's actually quite a pleasant little town (and about a zillion times better than Dover!). The local council has just spent a great deal of money on smartening up the Place d'Armes (which is one of the main squares) and there are lovely parks (as well as a very pleasant, long, wide and sandy beach). There are also lots of lovely restaurants and some nice bars. So there's absolutely no reason to avoid staying in the town itself.

TripAdvisor rates the Hotel Meurice as the best place in town. It's well-located and reasonably priced:

The best place to find cheap (but good) accommodation in Paris is probably HostelWorld:

Chris is right to a degree. I loved Calais without reservation up to a few years ago. Now, however, there are certainly a number of, shall we say, "undesireables" roaming around. I'm sure most of them are quite harmless and cause no trouble. However, when out for the evening and you encounter a large group of young males just hanging about on street corners as you make your way back to your hotel you may certainly feel a bit uneasy.

I no longer stay in Calais (which is a shame) and I usually go to St Omer instead.

Unfortunately Meurice was fully booked (must be good then) but I found an Ibis with good reviews.
Not too worried about the locals to be honest. We'll be arriving mid- to late evening and leaving early morning.
