It's an absolute nightmare trying to worm my two cats. I've tried every way going, to get tablets down them, but it's impossible. Does anyone make worming drops (for all types of worm)? Thank you.

There is a product called Stonghold which is a joint wormer and flea treatment. You apply it in drop form to the back of the cats neck and the flea treatment lasts for a month - not sure how long the worming treatment lasts. It's quite pricey though (around 25 for three applications) and you have to get it from the vets.
25! You are being ripped off mate! We get it for about 18 from our vets. I still think it is pricey, but it really is worth it.

katejess - now I think on, the last time I got some it cost me 25 but that included a consultation so I'm note sure what the Stronghold alone cost. Sometimes I think the vet just makes the charges up as he goes!
In that case Boognish....maybe it is me who's being ripped off!

Thank you for your answers. I'm going to try the tuna thing, and hope they don't spit the tablet out once they've sussed what I'm up to! 18- 25 for worming tablets? Makes you wonder how much it costs to make them..what a rip off!! Thanks again.
Nicola Jane - I'm sure you can get the same stuff in France for far less. For my Moggy, I used to either coat the pill in either butter or soft cheese wrap her in a towel so she couldn't struggle & claw me, only head showing, prise her jaws open whop the pill in and hold onto her till it was gone. If you give her a treat afterwards they won't hate you for ever!! Good Luck
Stronghold! A couple of drops on the back of your cats neck once a month and voila! No fleas, ticks mites or worms! My cat will not take a pill she's a terror. This stronghold is fantastic. It costs 15 - 20 for 3 months but to have a cat and house free of all pests is definitely worth it!

Another tip -if you can actually get the tablet into the month in the first place-fill a small syringe with water, can be obtained from vets, & gently squirt into mouth & hold closed. Your cat has to swallow, taking tablet with it- works everytime on mine, but then maybe I'm lucky.
The best worming tablet to use is Drontal (only available from vets). You should only need half a tablet per treatment. Those available in pet shops, supermarkets etc. aren't very effective and don't kill all the worms. They also tend to involve the cats taking several tablets over a period of weeks, depending on which you use. If you really can't get the tablets down your cats the vet should be able to do it, showing you a good technique. Drontal is very bitter and wouldn't be acceptable in food - it makes the cats drool a lot as soon as they taste it. It is a very good and thorough wormer, however.
