Cast Iron Toilet Outlet

Need to fit new toilet to a cast outlet with a wooping big flange onto a pink toilet, theres plenty of pipe to cut back on so as to fit new toilet closer to the wall. Q is it possible to cut cast, and what would be the best cutter to use, and will I be able to get an adaptor to fit new to old. Thanks

That's an old-fashioned system Will :o)
I guess you'll need to cut the collar off (the wide bit where the pan spigot goes.
Use an angle grinder. If you can't get in there with a big 9" one, use a smaller 4 1/2 inch (115mm) mini grinder. Wear goggles though, and protect the surrounding area from sparks.

That will leave you with a cast iron spigot. Something like this ..........

You'll then need to push a short piece of plastic pipe into the collar...... then a conventional WC pan connector.

Alternatively......... use something like this, with a big "jubilee clip" to tighten it up...........

You'll have to experiment. I could tell you exactly what to use, but I'd need to see what you have to work with.

Ye I think you got it, it is very old but in very good condition from the top to the sewer no rust at all. The soil pipe coming into the bath room has a good 12inches plus the big flange so at a gess at the mo will need to cut back at least half. thanks for the link and an idea of what I will need, as a jack of all and master of none, you sometimes can't picture what you need when you are not doing this kind of work every day, even if you have a fair idea of how to go about it. Heres a giggle for ya a few years back someone asked me to take out a cast bath I struggled like hell to get it out of a confine space on a sweltering hot day, on the night time in the pub a bloke overheard me telling someone and turned round a said why didn't you just hit it with a lump hammer. ok I felt a right dick head, they say you live and learn:)

Will.... in the "old days", it was usual to break up a cast iron bath. Now, people like to have them professionally stripped and re-enamelled.
So it's down to the way you did it ........ the hard way.
