Yes, he was a great man. He's probably looking down and laughing at us all who's wishing him happy birthday (tho' he's not here)

Pardon Jeffa?
Amandla is a Xhosa and Zulu word meaning "power". The word was a popular rallying cry in the days of resistance against Apartheid,
'' power to the people ''
Nelson Mandela? Who he?

July 18th should be used to celebrate the birth of W G Grace (in 1848) and Dennis Lillee (in 1949).

Alternatively, fans of The Pink Panther and Last of The Summer Wine (who include me, on both counts) might have another suggestion:

hi chris I thought he was from hull. he always says he is.
Does anyone think that the way some people and the media fawn over him in death as well as in life is a bit over the top? Yes he was a great man but there have been lots of great men (and women) throughout history but this man seems to be idolised bordering on worship by people all over the world. It's got to the stage where if anyone ever dares to criticize him then then you are a heretic.
I see no reasonf or Google to honour the birthday of a promoter of aluminium cricket bats, Chris.

Dingbats indeed.
