Is there a hairband or suchlike that can hold my hair back like a pair of glasses do? I don't like the usual kind of hairbands that scrape your hair back and flatten it. Any ideas? PS I don't want to go round with my glasses permanently on my head because sometimes I need to use them for their proper purpose :-)

I have hairbands that I use to hold my hair back on days like today. They are just narrow bands. I got them from Sainsbury's. There were three in a bundle.
what about the sort of hairband that comes with combs? - I've seen them in Boots. They stick in your head (if you know what I mean) so you don't get the flat front bit.
How about an "Alice band"
Alice bands are the ones that squash your hair, though, aren't they?
That's what mine are, Alice Bands. Thanks, whirly. I couldn't think of the name.
Thin ones don't squash your hair. The wider ones do.
Yes Tilly, I'd be lost without mine.

Thank you Boxtops and all. I like the look of that one, it doesn't look like it squashes hair flat. Alice bands do squash my hair, even thin ones. It needs bouffing up a bit (is that a word?)

I use these because the ones like boxtops has linked to tend to give me a headache. They are elastic with little non-slip thingies underneath to stop them falling off if you sweat or are active (they are a sports brand). You can get them in various colours if you look for stockists of 'Under Armour hairbands'

They're very sporty looking, daffy - I wouldn't wear something like that in normal clothes...
You can get plainer ones, I think Asics do some that are even thinner, some of the other sports brands also make them.
Babyliss make thin black elastic sports bands.

Thanks Daffy :-) I think I haven't explained myself very clearly. I don't want one to keep the hair off my face cos I'm hot, I want one that makes my hair look the same as if I've got my hair pushed back with my glasses. That sort of look puffs my hair up a bit and it suits me. It's purely for vanity reasons I'm afraid. :-) Thanks all
