Cabinet Or Home?

Like many answerbankers, I am being "encouraged" to switch to BT Infinity. Do any of you know if BT's fibre optic cables run to your home, or only to the nearest cabinet?

Infinity fibre runs only to the cabinet - it's a FTTC product (fibre to the cabinet). The final yards to your house will be the existing copper wire, but you need a new modem/router box attached to it in your house. This means that if you are a good way from the Cab you won't get real 'fibre' speeds - but should still get more than your previous 'copper all the way'...

It comes to my house, the bloke put it in. It's brilliant. I have had hardly any problems since ours was installed two years ago. Download time is really fast. I'd 10% go for it. http:// www.pro ductsan dservic es.bt.c om/prod ucts/br oadband /gettin g-ready -for-bt -infini ty

FTTH (where the optic fibre actually comes to your premises) is, by and large, only a big business product in the UK at the moment.

Am pleased to report a vast improvement in broadband signal since BT connected me to Infinity. There was an improvement just using the new BT Dual Band 802.11ac Wireless Adapter and even more after setting up the new Hub5. So far so much better! Average of 4.5 bars out of 5 in signal strength.
PS. I'm just a customer - I don't work for BT!
