can anyone suggests products available in shops that help a person's memory? links would be handy. for example, I've often heard of handheld computer games that aid memory. even types of food. any suggestions gratefully received.

IMO it's probably a case of those who still can that inevitably are the ones that still do.

Singing, favourite tunes, and playing an instrument (if this was done in earlier life) all help. The 'top twenty' of his best days are a good way of engaging attention. A cd or MP3 player loaded with these would be good.
Old family snaps are brilliant for stimulating chat - if you can scan a load and put them onto sheets of A4, laminate or put in a clear plastic pocket, makes them survive having coffee spilled on them a bit longer.

meryl, here's on the importance of exercise & mental stimulation, i.e .. crosswords ect.. Also, a friend sent me some info on 'neuroplasticity' the idea behind the thinking being if we try making our brain do reverse things it stimulates new neural pathways!
