X-Box One Losing Tv Signal

I got an X-Box One at Christmas but I could never get my Virgin V-Box to work through it, the picture would hang or drop out when switching between applications. I gave up on it and plugged the V-Box straight into the TV.

Recently, inspired by the Aaron Paul adverts, I tried again and everthing worked perfectly but in the last week or so it's back to hanging and dropping out.
Nothing has changed in the set-up so has anyone got any suggestions?

Cheers Graham-W, I probably should have mentioned we're on cable. I did wonder about the heat although it certainly wasn't hot at Christmas and I have had a fan pointing at it the last few days (while I sit here melting)
