I just caught the end of a play ( I think it was a play or it might be a drama series like the Archers ) on radio four ,earlier .
Anyway the particular bit I heard , the characters were on a farm .
They were talking about newly hatch chickens ( girl was supposed to be working doing something with the chickens )
Dialogue went something like this -

-Girl – Oh what lovely chickens .

-Farmer – yes they are , aren’t they – we are fattening them up over the next six weeks

-Girl – What for – oh so they can lay more eggs ?

-Farmer – no, they will be killed after six weeks

-Girl – that’s horrible

-Farmers wife – I told you this is a working farm .

-Girl – yes but you did not tell me that murder was taking place round the back you can stick the job I’m not taking part in that .

-Farmers wife – where do you think you get roast chicken from ?

-Girl – I don’t know where you get your’s from , but I get mine from the shop

Methinks she'd be shocked that chips come from muddy potatoes too!

It would be funny - if it wasn't very, very true.

I know people who won't eat any meat but chicken - because "there's no blood in that" ...
