I just went to serve up a few green grapes (perfect with Brie) and found I have bought a pack of gooseberries! Am now going to make a gooseberry crumble. Anyone else brought the wrong thing by mistake?

When Lidl first opened stores in Britain, most of their canned stuff had labels written in German rather than English. I bought a cam of what I thought was pineapple pieces, but turned out to be chickpeas ! How the hell was I to know why chickpeas are in German ?
Bought a scarifier instead of a lawnmower once...

Lol Mikey. At least you had an excuse! My story has happy ending as the crumble looks good (after I topped and tailed 102 gooseberries).
Will hide it away until I get some ice cream to have with it.
I hope you remembered to put some sugar in with them, grassy!

Yes Tilley. Followed a recipe I found on line. After the cooking them in water and sugar was more liquid so drank some. Convinced myself it would be full of vitamin C so too good to chuck. Also had to sort out a random dry goods cupboard to find bag of luxury crumble mix. Never a dull moment!
luxury crumble mix? It should be lovely then.
If someone asked me if I wanted gooseberry crumble, apple crumble and rhubarb crumble, I would have to have a small portion of each, as it would be impossible to choose, But custard surely, rather than ice cream ?
