Have other people noticed poor spelling on this site?

I know. Some people even start new sentances without capitals.

Could it be because schools don't place any importance on spelling now.? the emphasis is on content.

I used to love the spelling tests at school,I don't suppose they have them any more,it isn't just the spelling is it,

ask any youngster what 7 x 7 is and they reach for the calculator, maybe the next generation will improve,they are reading more now,thanks to books like Harry Potter.

Full stops and question marks, poor use of commas and bad grammar. Not just spelling is it? Tsk tsk

My younger brother (7) still has to learn his spellings for a test on a Friday.

Sometimes on the internet, it is very easy to mis-hit a key, and end up with a mis-spelled word.....It is still plain what word it is though.

And some people like using txt spk etc.. no harm in that really.

Maybe you should lobby the AB Ed for a spellcheck box, if it concerns you that much

if u have a spot of bother with the old spellign download the google toolbar , it has a check box on it u can run.

Please! I'm just trying to get some children through KS2 English and Maths. I come on here for a bit of rest and relaxation. If I (or anyone else) make(s) the odd spelling or grammaticial error, so what? This is not a test! Your ambition to be a rocket scientist is not in jeapardy! Mis-spell all you like. So long as you can be understood, that's all you need.

I think it's just laziness (if that's spelt right ^^). Some people can't be bothered (or maybe they just find it more difficult) to remember how to spell properly. It's the ones that do it on purpose that are most annoying. Like "hu r u?" "wot tyme iz it?"

What irritates me beyond measure - in any forum -
is the posting of a message in mobile-phone-text language.

You know - the '* * *8' sort of thing.

Can you imagine a future of that?
