It was in BBC news just now. Apparently, it started behind some wooden panelling - nothing to say whether it was or wasn't started deliberately.

I have been advised it was arson and police are looking for a one-armed bandit...

Seriously,this is sad news and there does seem to be a few fires around the country to these structures.

Aww all my teenage memories have gone up in smoke, that Arcade was the dancehill in my youth, many a tale could be told!! Very very sad, I was ony there a month ago. Mind you the whole pier was looking very tatty and neglected, by that I do not mean safety wise, just a couple of out dated shops and a souvenir one. Hope they rebuild it in the same style as the old one.
