Tent Weathering

The road trip is just over a week away and my tent (large dome tent, 2 separate bedrooms) has never been out of the bag. It’s new, only bought a couple of months ago.
I’ve wanted the opportunity to put it up but it looks unlikely I’ll get the chance before we go, and my main fear is that even if I do get the chance and it rains there’s almost no way I’ll be able to get it properly dry.
Has tent technology moved on to the extent that weathering isn’t as vital as it used to be? Where we’re going is hot, the tent will be up for about 7 days, and there’s only a small chance of overnight rain.

Not made of canvas is it, anaxcrosswords ?, but yes tent technology has moved on from the made of canvas days.

No Tony, it's nylon, or polywhatsit, or whatever it is that isn't canvas any more.

Shouldn't you take it out of the bag and check all the bits are there to be on the safe side?

I know I should. It's just the thought of trying to stuff it all back in again.

It will be fine then, anaxcosswords, but I would do as sherr suggests and check that all the bits and pieces are there.

You could try assembling the frame as that is the tricky bit. You can put modern tents away damp, most of the water can be shaken off.

"Weathering" is something we all used to have to do when tents were made of cotton canvas but I am not sure it is really needed now. Although you are well advised to practise pitching it before you go, as a precaution.
