But my new phone says my current Sim (Virgin) is an 'incorrect sim'... why is this happening? I thought u could just pop any sim card into a phone and away you go....??????

Some phones are "tied" to a particular network (particularly if they sold you a cheap phone to get you to sign up).

Your phone may be locked to one network or another, does it have a providors name printed on the actual phone (Vodaphone or whatever)
