Did This Get Onto The Postings?

I asked what size fuse should be used for a dishwasher and can't find it anywhere. I did not know where to post it but any advice appreciated. Mine has begun to trip every 5 amp fuse I keep replacing but I would rather that than my dishwasher cause a fire.

So all these years it has functioned with a 5 amp fuse. Last night was the first time it started blowing these fuses (3 in total). It makes me wonder if something is going wrong with the dishwasher for it to have suddenly started tripping these 5 amp fuses. I am aware that dishwashers are known for getting on fire for some reason and I suppose I think maybe if it had a 13 amp fuse in it NOW that whatever has caused it to trip last night may indicate a problem with the machine which the 13 amp may not protect. Any further advise welcome.
Generally, a 13A fuse will protect against overloads/short circuits........ the things that worry you most.
Dishwashers are mostly in the region of 1200 watts to 2400 watts power consumption.
Perhaps yours is at the lower end. 1200 watts would put a 5A fuse up near its limit. There is a "tolerance" with fuses above the given rating.
Perhaps you can look for the power consumption on the Manufacturer's plate. Anyway .......... a 13A is the one to go for. If that starts blowing, then a fault is likely.

I've just taken a look at the Bosch website and clicked on the technical specs of some random models of dishwasher. The ones I looked at all stated "Connection rating: 2400W" which would most definitely require a 13A fuse!
However I'm not actually that surprised that you previously had a 5A fuse that didn't blow. When I was in charge of stage-lighting at the school I taught at, I discovered that some of the pupils had managed to plug so many circuits into a single 13A socket that a total of 42A were going through it! (The 13A fuse didn't blow but you would burn yourself if you touched the wall where the cable to the socket ran behind it!)
