I have an adult friend who I think is dyslexic. He struggles to write and spell even simple words. His writing is very untidy. I don't think he has ever been diagnosed. He is about to go for a job interview and I see that dyslexia can be declared as a disability on the equal opportunities form. Do you think it sounds like this is what he has, and should he tick that box? He's very bright in all other ways, and is okay at reading. It's just his writing and spelling which are very bad. Any advice gratefully received!

If he has never been diagnosed as dyslexic by a professional, then he shouldn't tick the box.
Your friend should contact his nearest Dyslexia Action branch. They diagnose and help adults with dyslexia.

I agree with Sqad, if he's not officially been diagnosed, he shouldn't tick the box.
