For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.You can either contact O2 (by 'phone if you want) and tell them you want it unlocked (they will then supply you with a code and tell you what to do with it) or you can take it to an independent ("backstreet") 'phone shop in town and get them to do it.
The first way can take a week and they'll charge you (and you'll usually have to have had the mobile for at least a year before they'll do it). The second way is cheaper, quicker and they don't care how long you've had the 'phone.
