Can I use a monthly-subscription sim in a PAYG phone?

I have a "pay monthly" sim card on the Vodafone network and would like to use it in a Motorola Razr v3 phone.

I have seen what looks like a good deal for the phone but with a Vodafone PAYG sim card. My question is: if I bought the PAYG deal, could I use my sim card in it without having to go to PAYG?

On a side note, what do people think of the Razr phone? Ideally I would like a loudish ring tone as the polymorphic ones are sometimes hard to hear, but that's not essential.

Thanks!

yes you can use a contract card in a payg phone. I had a Razer and took it back after a week and went back to Nokia 6230i. It might not flip but it's twice the phone the Razer is

Thanks for the response camioneur.

What put you off keeping the Razr? Were there certain things about it that you didn't like or was the phone generally just rubbish?

I dont like my V3 Razr either and can't wait till i can get a new one. The menus are confusing and not user friendly - it takes me 1/2 hr to work out how to change the ring tone, the camera is rubbish and I don't like the text messages, you have to choose about 4 options before you beging typing your message.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend one to my worst enemy.

Hi Barndyman,

I've got a v3i and don't have any prob with ring tone, I use realtones from mp3's off computer. What I do find a bit annoying though is I cant get it to vibrate and ring with my chosen ringtone at the same time very easily, if you set it to vibrate and ring it picks is a proper cra*p polyphonic tone and you have to change it to what you want so it just takes a few seconds longer. I've had it for three months and I reckon it's a good phone, and more sturdy than I thought it'd be! battery only lasts a couple of days, but I'm told that's sacrifice you make having colour screens these days or summat. With regard to you q on the sim cards, I can't see why you wouldn't be able to put contract sim in there, but you might need to get sim updates for it to function properly in the phone. You might be as well telling them in the shop what you want to do then you'll know for sure. Since it's all on vodafone I'm sure they'd be able to help.

I started posting before the others came through. I hated it at first and wanted to go back to trusty old nokia, where I knew all the menu's but I stuck with it now I love my sexy razr.
cheekychops has got a point about the camera though, to get decent quality pic you need to be using the memory card and I haven't worked out how to use that yet!
