I hated every second of school (I know higher ed is likely to be different) but once I got my GCSE's that was it for me. I don't think it did me any harm. I have a good job and have gained a lot of work experience you wouldn't get in higher ed and I always have the option to take on a course any time in the future. It's personal preference really isn't it.
Some people might just really want the job. Like me for example, I will finish my GCSEs next year, I will then continue onto a-level. Then Instead of going to Uni. I will hopefully go to chef college, and do want I want to do. But I wanted to stay on and do A-level, just incase I change my mind, it then give me a fall-back to continue my education.
why stay in education? In all honesty, unless you kow what it is you want to do and need a degree specifically for that purpose what is the point? You could be like me, get sh*t careers advice, not know what you want to do, be told, you're a bright girl, get a degree and decide afterwards, go to uni, get debt, come out, and find the only jobs available in your area are really badly paid ones. Would have been better off doing my a-levels and getting a job straight away and working up from the bottom. Tony Blair is a total *rse-telling everyone to go to uni-they'll be better off in the long run NOT if you live in rural mid wales Mr Blair! Sorry, bit of a rant there, but now you know what I reckon-don't continue too far in education unless you know what you're doing it for!
