If you won a couple of million on the lotto, after sorting out friends and family with a few quid, would you give to charity?
Ive never met anyone who wouldnt give some away to a charity of their choice.
Would you give some away? would you gave it away because you really wanted to? Or would you give some away because it was expected of you?
Personaly, I would give to the RSPCA, because ive worked for them but wouldnt be to fussed about giving to others. In fact im not that altuistic and what would be wrong with looking after my own first anyway?
just my POV.
Yes, I'd share it out between a few but probably not the RSPCA, but I doubt I'd give more than 10% away. (Would you consider paying that TV licence, nailit, lol)
ha, I have the same forebears, Daisy, a couple of preachers in fact. Didn't approve of drinking, gambling etc etc... well, I don't mind drinking, but I've not bought any lotto tickets. I used to be in a syndicate at work, to be sociable, but we won far less over the years than the law of averages is supposed to allow. So not much point me planning what to do with my winnings.
Giving money away is not a true sign of altruism. An altruistic act is one where the altruist is significantly disadvantaged through the helping of another.
mmm, heather mills demanded x amount(thousands every month) off paul mc-cartney in their divorce, so she could donate it to charidee. As zacs said, giving money isn't necessarily that altruistic.
I would definitely give to my local RSPCA who are always cash strapped and where two of my lovely dogs have come from. I would also give to other animal charities I support, Help the Aged and Save the Children. It would be lovely to be able to treat family as well.
