Raising A Baby Sparrow - Urgent!

Help! About 45 mins. ago our cat brought in a baby sparrow. I've looked at pictures and it seems to be about 8/9 days old. Whilst shocked and wing at an awkward angle, it has since folded the wing. I've popped it in a small box on the windowcill in peace and quiet and am hoping it's parents will find it.

If not, what do we do, please? I think it is getting over the shock and it is sitting quietly, dozing occasionally now. I have some dried cat-food soaking (read that up) and other half is grinding grains down in pestle and mortar.

Thank you all. I'll try with the savlon ,if I can do it without distressing the baby, but so far meal worm has gone down well - although it doesn't look well.

To all of you - thank you for your help and advice. I am watching carefully and I promise that I will not let it suffer - I have had dogs and cats all my life and know that there are times to minimise suffering and give up. I am somewhat pessimistic now, despite the mealworms and it being used to being handled gently by me. Whilst it lifts its head to be fed it is trying and so far, so good.

Constant warmth is important. You can also it it something like baby porridge or pronutro

don't give up jourdain2 - I raised two baby swallows once - much the same age as your sparrow - we fed them mealworms, kept them warm then when old enough took them out side for a fly around - they return to our hand when they'd had enough. One day a flock of swallows flew over when we were outside 'flying' them and they just joined the group going south!

It's a very pretty part of France where I live, by the way (you asked earlier) but very rural and poor - very near the river Vienne. x

We visited France often before MrG died......he had to do and see everything but I loved just parking myself in a village or town and being part of it for a couple of weeks....and eating and drinking....☺
