Sorting The Rubbish Is Revealing A Few Secrets.

The local council has introduced another small bin, that makes 4 now, and it's for glass. There are some neighbours who seem very fond of red wine, others who put out a lot of gin bottles, and a shared house where a lot of Polish beer gets drunk.
If you were a drinker would you want the entire world to know what you drank in the privacy of your own home?

//Frank97 why are you bothered what the neighbours think? Anyway -they could be thinking -wow! they know how to have a good time, I wonder if they'll invite us around sometime.//
But you're writing from the perspective of the people having the parties. Conversely, the neighbours could be resentfully wondering why they weren't invited. ;-)

I live in sheltered accommodation where we have recycling bins. Above me lives an extremely anally-retented neighbour whose window overlooks the the bins. For want of something better to do in his sad life he observes people going to the glass bin and then later goes to inspect it, just to see who is drinking what, which he will gleefully tell to anyone who cares to listen (not many do). I take great delight in hoarding all my empties until I have sufficient to fill half the bin. I then wait for the bin to be emptied before going down to refill it. This has got him baffled. How, he thinks, can that guy drink 20 bottles of gin in one night? This might sound rather childish, but to be honest I can't be a**ed. I remember the early days of recycling when it was a cardboard box outside the front gate. Someone said to me, "They sure get through a lot of wine at No 24. I once scoured the streets for empty condom packets to put in the paper bin. That would make him think!
I remember a thread a while back where bottles that had contained expensive drinks and vintage wine would disappear from the original bottle bin only to reappear a few doors away or in the next street.
The presumption was that it was a form of one-up-manship, as in ''Look at the expensive stuff I can afford to drink!''
Wasn't there a 'Goon Show' script about people who were too poor to afford their own rubbish and had to go out and take someone else's?

Are you allowed to smoke in church, orbiter?
Yes, but only with an incense burner ( no Woodbines allowed). In my young days I got the job of swinging the "smoky handbag", and took great delight in choking the congregation. The main benefit of that job was that when the Vicar rose into the pulpit to deliver his sermon I was allowed to retreat to the vestry alone, ostensibly to refill said vessel, but really to have a couple of ciggies, the smell of which was suitably masked by the incense.
