My mother has been told to follow a low fat low sugar diet... Does anyone have any low fat low sugar dessert ideas. she seems okay with meals its just desserts that we are struggling to find something suitable. Thanks in advance

Berries contain the lowest natural sugar of all fruits but I'm not sure if they suit her. If OK then I recommend a couple of tablespoons of Total 0% yoghurt with a portion of raspberries or strawberries or blueberries or a mixture and a squirt of Sweet Freedom for a tiny bit of sweetness. sorry she can have limited fruit as she has ulcers. nothing too acidic
no-fat yogurt is a great basis for desserts
As long as its plain yogurt. Low fat yogurts are often full of sugar.

'Flavoured' low fat yogurts.
The frozen banana is supposed to be nice, it makes a lovely ice cream apparently, with just one ingredient, bananas. I think Boo made it.

I don't think bananas are acidic so it should be ok.

she used to eat crumbles and pies all the stodgy sorts of puddings before she was ill. she has just had hip surgery so she has limited mobility for the next few weeks I am looking for something satisfying but fairly healthy for her that I can whip up

They do a chocolate shot too which works well on yoghurt and banana or stirred into some skimmed milk for a comforting drink. All useful for those moments when the sweet tooth demons strike. (I buy it from any of the major supermarkets found either near the honey or the drinking chocolate)

For a hot pudding how about a nice seasonal baked apple? Take out the core, prick the skin and pop it in the oven filled with blackerries and a dash of either sweet freedom or a tiny squirt of honey. Serve with greek 0% yoghurt or low fat fromage frais.
....oooops, I forgot to add a sprinkle of cinnamon on your apple!

She doesn't eat much food at the moment and she has more of a sweet tooth so I try to include a dessert to make up for the lack of other meals. almost like a sneaky meal.

Have made the banana icecream - looks lovely. Just blended iced banana - had to add a little milk as banana seemed to stick to the blades. However, eventually looks creamy and have put it back to freeze. Next time will add nut flakes. Thanks Rocky for that idea. JjCon
