Being veggie and gong Atkins..

I don't eat meat and my diet is mainly fish, pasta, rice, bread and potatoes. Could I still go on the Atkins diet? People on it have said it is very meat oriented with no carbs - is there a 'veggie' version with recipes without the high carb factor that most veggie meals have? Or am I on a highway to nowhere!

People who say it's meat oriented have often failed to read the book, which really is a pre-requisite. You eat loads of vegetables, contrary to popular opinion, and with Fish in your diet, there's no reason why you can't do Atkins. But please read the book - most of the people who claim to have had problems on the diet appear to have next to no idea about how you're really supposed to do it - eating 20 steaks a day, for example, is not doing the Atkins diet, it's eating really unhealthily. agree with jess. It sounds to me like you're on a balanced diet all ready TBH - fish past rice bread all good for you - cut the daily calorie intake down if you want to lose weight (you're not putting cheesy sauces over all that pasta are you?) also grilled/steamed/baked fish instead of fried. Some fish is quite high in calories too (makerel for one - about 5 times more than haddock)
