Israel!!
14 Answers
I found an old geography book I had at school in my early years and on looking at a map of the Middle East there is no sign of the word Israel, but a mass of land called British Palestine! How is it that a nomadic tribe can own so much of it today? Any suggestions for a good unbiased history book on this area. Many thanks

Lawrence of Arabia helped the Arabs to drive out the Turks during WWI, and his autobiographical "Seven Pillars of Wisdom" describes how exultant the Arabs were about regaining control of Jerusalem (they must have lost it to the Turks some time after the Crusades).
As victors in WWI, the British had total jurisdiction over the territory. They allowed the Arabs to occupy it until 1947/8, then they awarded it to the Jews.
The Palestinian claim of right to the territory is therefore completely fictitious.

Nobody awarded the territory to the Jews; in complete disregard of the United Nations an independent state was declared by Zionists hours ahead of the midnight end of the British Mandate. Eleven minutes after midnight the US government recognised the newly created state of Israel, closely followed by the US puppet Shah of Iran, at which point it was a done deal.

Cherry picking the facts, aren't you ABerrant? The rest of the article you cite states: "... the Provisional government was promptly recognised by the United States as the de facto authority of Israel, followed by Iran (which had voted against the UN partition plan), Guatemala, Iceland, Nicaragua, Romania, and Uruguay. The Soviet Union was the first country to recognise Israel de jure on 17 May 1948, followed by Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Ireland, and South Africa. The United States extended de jure recognition after the first Israeli election, on 31 January 1949.
Doesn't matter what your geography book says the Israelis have got a much older book that clearly states they are bestest mates with God and anyone who says otherwise is in line for a smiting or at the very least haemorhoids in the case of the (original) citizens of Ashdod (1 Samuel 5:6-7)
Clearly, anyone with the sort of firepower that can give a whole city the Farmer Giles is not to be messed with which might explain why the west has failed to condemn what's happening these past weeks
