Help Needed With Light Bulbs

I have two desk lights that have both blown their bulbs.

On reading the sticky label on the lights it seems that the bulbs that I put in were the wrong ones.

For lamp one I need - ' max 28w ses bulb - energy saving 7w ses bulb'

For lamp two I need - '25w bulb max or low energy equivalent'

I know that they are small screw bulbs but can anyone tell me what I should be buying. I have always bought 40 watt, R50, E14 bulbs from Tesco.

Thanks - that seems to tick the right boxes. But did you see the price? £7 for a bulb. Has there been a massive light bulb revolution that I missed?

I might toddle over to Tesco and see if they have any that I can put in my shopping for delivery.

LED bulbs are becoming popular. Many people prefer them to other types of low-energy bulbs but they're not cheap. Here's what I use:

They would certainly meet your need (other, possibly than your budget!) very well. They should be available in all B&Q stores.

Alternatively you could probably get away with traditional R39 SES spotlights rated at 30W. (It's only just over the theoretical maxima for your lamps and there's always a bit of leeway with such things). Asda sell them quite cheaply, in packs of 4.

Daffy's suggestion is a candle bulb, but I think you need a spotlight bulb for a desk lamp.

One bought you will not need to change the LED bulb form B&Q so in the long term it should be a decent investment

I have bought some from Tesco. I know that I have a stash of the eco bulbs somewhere in the house - somewhere. I have avoided using them as they are not very bright. I can't remember bulbs being very expensive at all last time that I bought them.

Some low quality LED bulbs were proven to fail before their anticipated lifespan but not all. Many of those were withdrawn and in general they last well, draw less energy and are instant, unlike the original low energy bulbs that take an age to warm up.

I still struggle to find any modern bulbs that give out a nice warm light.
