He has died, aged 69, after a long illness. Maybe not known as well on 'the Mainland' as he was here where he presented a morning programme on Radio Ulster. He had a quirky taste in music and also introduced many locals to the work of the poet, Robert Service.
Here's one of Service's more famous works.

Those of you who didn't know him have no idea how special, innovative, witty, charming, intelligent, unique etc he really was. A total genius.

I thought you a bit late with news about the Thunderbirds guy. I don't know this one but he sounds like someone I'd have enjoyed listening to.
I take it that we aren't talking about Captain Scarlet's friend.

Really sorry to hear that Gerry has died. He is a legend!

I think he did go to Radio 4 for a while but his style wasn't to everyone's taste.

Am listening to this morning's Stephen Nolan show on BBC i player. It's a tribute to Gerry. For Gerry lovers it's one not to miss.
I thought "That's bad news for Lady Penelope"; but I think that Gerry Anderson has already gone before, hasn't he?
?? why weren't those other answers visible before I posted?
