Stretching Leather Boots

I was wondering if anyone here had had leather knee high boots stretched professionally?

What were the results? I have found some lovely boots I would like to buy but they are overseas and currently would not fit around my calves. I am wondering what the average 'extra' space I would get if I bought them and had them stretched?

My Dh had some shoes stretched in the foot and it wasn't successful. personally I wouldn't do it unless you can afford to write off the purchase money and the cost of the stretching.
