How To Soothe Dogs Irritated Skin

My dog has had her health check today and the vet had to shave an area of her neck to get a blood sample. Now she wont stop scratching. The area is red and irritated and i want to know what to put on it to soothe it. Would aloe vera gel be safe to use?

I use Sodocreme for anything like that.

I'd give the vet a shout....but as its late, have you got an piriton (chlorphenamine) in the house? a dose of that can help with inflamed itchy stuff. google for the dose per kg bodyweight.
