Advice Needed.
10 Answers
My son bought an ASUS K5130 Desktop P/C last week. He hasn't been able to use it as it's loading really slow. He did a few scans and a restore and rang "Knowhow" but they said they couldn't find what the problem was. We took the p/c back to PcWorld they did a scan but they also failed to find out why the p/c is slow. Any advice much appreciated. TIA.

It's never worked properly, therefore your son has never legally 'accepted' it. He therefore retains the right to a full refund, rather than to a repair or replacement (as would have been the case if it had gone wrong some time after 'acceptance'). Sorting out problems with computers that never work properly from the outset can be a nightmare (as PC World seem to have acknowledged by saying that they can't fix it). Demand a refund and seek out a better dealer!

looking at the actual PC I can see it is never going to be lightning fast due to the components it has, it shouldn't be so bad that it appears broken though!

I would take beunchico's advice and demand a refund.

Hi folks. This is Carl, Kat-kin's son. Thanks very much for the advice, especially to Daffy. Here are some of the following about my pc, apologies if they sound too advanced.
Intel Celeron 2GB, would have been better if it was a bit more than that.
Wi-Fi Internet Connection, not Ethernet.
Windows 8. Could've updated to 8.1 but there were 95 updates, barely 3 installed.
I tried to return it earlier but the assistant at the store said he couldn't as it was already opened and the returning situation had to be left to the manager to decide.
Thanks again.

My main concern would be when you said...
"Windows 8. Could've updated to 8.1 but there were 95 updates, barely 3 installed. "
Did you stop the updates? or did they fail?
Either way... try the updates again and if you stopped them, let them complete, the 8 to 8.1 update is a huge update and can take a couple of hours. if it doesn't finish properly it causes massive problems.
If KB2919355 is failing (as it all too often does!) download it from the link below (download all files) and install them in the following order (Very important!)
clearcompressionflag.exe, KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2959977, KB2937592, KB2938439, and KB2934018.
It takes ages as it needs 4/5 restarts, but it's worth doing.

Hi, Chuck. I tried one of the smallest updates (31kb) and after 5 mins or so, download still at 0% so I hit the cancel button. Also when I check task manager, CPU rockets up to 100%. Is that normal? I'm thinking of getting a well known brand like HP or Packard, I'm not familiar with ASUS. Thanks for your input.
