Re this... http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ChatterBank/Question1363735.html

She saw the doctor this morning, who put in an urgent referral to the breast clinic...that means an appointment within 2 weeks. She's quite stressed and scared...not eating.
It must be the waiting that's the worst...plus she tends to over-analyse things.
This has come at a bad time as she's just finishing her PhD research...her funding runs out at the end of this month...more pressure. At least its something to immerse herself in.

Pasta, I can totally understand what she is going through. When I was 29 I found a lump in my breast. It was very deep and not easily detected. My GP sent me for an urgent referral, but I had to wait a week. The longest week of my life. I was admitted to hospital and had the lump removed.

It was benign, a fibrodema.

I am sure she will be fine. As others have said she has age on her side.

Fusion...she's 29 in November...let's hope the similarities continue.
I am confidant they will, Pasta. Fibrodemas are quite common, apparently.

Much love to your daughter and you. xx
What would I do in your circumstances?

Ring my daughter, tell her that if she cannot be seen THIS week, then get her GP to find a surgeon that will see her today or tomorrow and that shouldn't be difficult.
and should have said....PRIVATELY.
I agree with Sqad, though this 2 week wait on the NHS seems to be the norm now.
My best wishes for good news. At least she's getting a quick referral. It'll seem like eternity for her. ... and you.
Thanks for keeping us informed. Let us know when she gets good news next week. xxx
I had a lump removed. It was benign In fact the doc said it was " just a benign warty thing". I said " is that the Latin Name for it"?? Anyway, after 10 worrying days, I was seen and it was good news. Great relief all round.
Most lumps are benign.
xx
I'm with sqad on this one .

Errrm... Doesn't private cost money?

Like this... https://www.breasthealthuk.com/prices

She's a 28 year old student with little money...and I unfortunately have little also. Her bf has health insurance...not sure that helps.
Then there's her dad who never bothers to contact her...but that's another story. Doubt she'd ask him for help.
pasta......O.K
a very fair point pasta .
The last two people I know who were referred had an an NHS appointment within a week, so I hope it is equally prompt for your daughter pastafreak.
Thinking on from Slaney's post, I'm sure my last one was incredibly quick, clinic phoned before lunchtime the day after I was seen (late afternoon too!) and I think mine was only a week later at a purpose built specialist centre in its own building at a different hospital to my usual one, was very impressive.
