Bit of a bizarre question I know.

After hearing about the Oscar Pretorius murder trial on the news today I thought that his trial had been going on for ages and ages and so I wondered if this was normal or if it was excessively long?

Does anybody how long a murder trial usually is?

The same length as a piece of string.
How long is a piece of string?
The real answer is that it depends on circumstances, amount of witnesses and evidence to be heard, public holiday etc. etc.
The Pistorius trial has been one of the longest I can remember though.
I don't know about the longest, but the shortest is 14 minutes. Ruth Ellis pleaded guilty to murder, was sentenced to death and hanged a month later in 1955.
