Go to the doc, what are your symptoms?
Blood tests may identify the onset of menopause and other related conditions e.g under active thyroid.

However, the diagnosis is mainly done on an interview with your GP.
The other half of the diagnosis is, what leads you to think you could be depressed? Check out the symptoms of depression with your GP as well as the physical signs of menopause.

guess im worn out!! got coldsores, the thoughts of going to work makes my tummy turn, sons gone to university, husband works every hour god sends, im very emotional, thoughts of i wonder how people with cope without me (if you know what I mean) this is so unlike me!!! I hate the thoughts of getting old.. but above al just so so tired and wish I could afford to pack in work (i am 47)
Sounds peri-menopausal. Though as Sqad said get thyroid checked aswell.

Hey you..hugs...you may be peri which is pre cursor.but if you feel you are getting very down see doc....been through it last year, bit hot etc and touchy...DID I SAY TOUCHY ? lol...

"tired" may be the key word there. You sound as if you have a lot on your plate. Are you getting enough rest?
