What is the difference with having your pic on here and walking out in the street?

It's only your face that countless strangers see on a daily basis.

Some bloke winked at me this morning....then seen what house I walked into!

Some people might not be too keen for anyone to know who they are on here , especially if they are projecting a different character on here to what they are in their private life ( granted - the odds of being recognised from an avatar picture on AB is probably quite small )

So I assume that people that use their own pic have nothing to hide and are being themselves.

Well Tambo in most cases we have no proof and it really doesn't matter a bit.

Take Kval as an instance - her chosen path is the stage etc. so getting her face on screen is something very natural to her.

sandyroe- I only read the first 30 or so threads on here so maybe someone has already said this- your Gravatar password had to be the same as your AB password so if you know your AB one you should be able to get into Gravatar with that

FF - my Gravatar password is not the same as my AB password (the e-mails are the same). I've just tried to login with my AB password and can't but can with my password that I don't use on this site at all.

@sqad....kvalidir has indicated that her Avatar is a photograph of her lovely self.

I would be afraid to put a photograph of myself on any Internet site. Imagine if I fell-out with someone in my village and was recognised as a member of AB. It would be a simple matter to organise a campaign against me and all sorts of malicious and scandalous untruths told about me in AB and my life made really unpleasant; not only on AB but within my community because it would be difficult for me to establish who was printing false things about me which others may choose to believe; in the same way as lots of folk accept printed items as fact.

Even after five years I still can't make up my mind which avatar to choose. I think your avatars are lovely esp the doggy ones.When a new one appears I take a guess at what sex they are,then check the profile.
