My border terrier seems to be losing the hair along the upper part of the tail's tip. He shows no sign of flea or mite irritation and is well in himself.
Anyone met this problem and can shed some light on it.

How old is he, seadogg - just old age? perhaps a call to the vet might be in order.

Thanks boxy, wise as usual. 12 plus but a good little climber who can keep pace with the big feller. Intend to ask the vet but often one can get a good idea here

It can be hormonal. I have two mastiffs who don't have this condition but a previous boy did to a mild degree. I have never seen it in a girl dog. It was my vet who told me it was hormonal. It does them no harm
