The new (not noo) labour plan, well not much change from any other labour plan I suppose.

Will it woo the middle classes that effectively elect a Government?

There is little point in Labour planning anything involving governemt - Ed Milliband is unelectable.

What are the odds on him staying as leader after the next election defeat, when Labour head for third place?

You could ask for whatever odds you like if you think Labour are heading for 3rd place.
curious that you think "tax and spend" is a Labour model - how exactly do you think the Tories work if it doesn't involve taxing or spending? Or any government anywhere?
You'll be in hot water if mikey reads that, andy. ;-)
it's ok YMB the mansion tax will pay for eveything! all those rich *&^%$s can cough up, hang on there might not be enough of those so Ed may have to redefine what a "mansion" is - 3 bed detached should do it!
bleedin cheek! Those in mansions would have private health insurance and cost NHS less.

Are you for real.

Stop being so ruddy pedantic, you know exactly what it means.
No, whatever pie in the sky solutions Labour suggests now, I don't think it will woo the middle classes into voting for them.

Andy, I agree, Ed Miliband is unelectable. However, I just heard a political commentator on television say that Gordon Brown is being primed for a come-back into the forefront of politics. Saints preserve us!! Tell me it's not so!!

jno, that's silly. We know all governments tax and spend - they have to - but what they tax, how much they tax, and how they spend it varies enormously.
The mansion tax is a bit daft, as the mansion buying money will be spent on things that aren't mansions, such as chateaux, fincas or schlosses. Much better to raise income tax so that all the rich pay rather than just those with property in london.

Miliband is not a Leader, regardless of which Party he represents!

Unlikely Naomi, according to this the party wont even recognize Grondo for his work in keeping the Union

Bottler is more unelectable than Ed, but then again is wet and weak Cameron really electable?

youngmafbog, phew! Thanks. Let's hope that's accurate.

Cameron has to be a better bet than the other two (or three if you count the nonentity that is Clegg).

Millipede has begged for ten years and he'll sort the country out !!!

Just look at the state the country was in after the last ten years of labour misrule....
'Tax and overspend' will continue whoever is elected, because 'tax and spend within your means' would see the economy collapse and 'increase taxes' would have the 'your not cutting my Standard of Living!!' hypocrites in a frenzy - they are quite willing to continue enjoying a debt dependent Standard of Living.
The election will not be decided on Miliband's speech, it will be long forgotten next May. It will be decided on how many people feel better off than they did in 2010. I suspect that not enough people are better off. However, Labour need to look electable, and at the moment, the look far from it.
