When I was fourteen I knew I was in bother when, walking home from school, I saw the mother standing at the gate, arms folded and mouth like a cat's bottom...
She took me by the hair...dragged me into the kitchen and told me that my dad had found a French Letter in the garden and what did I know about it! Was it anything to do with me?!!!
Being really green and innocent I replied....It can't be Mum....we don't do French in school so I can't write in French.....
I got a slap and spent the evening locked in the outside loo for my insolence....
God knows, Caran.....and why were the daft stories supposed to be more acceptable than the truth.....
Like the friend at school who found condoms....(I'm not obsessed with them, honestly)...in her parents bedroom.
They were Catholics too so her mum told her men had to wear them once a month for their periods.....I believed that too....for ages....I must have been so dim...... :-(
Good morning Gness - very sad to read of all your postings altho I do know you have had a very sad relationship with your mother if you could call it a relationship. However, we all know you gained so much positivity and went on to fulfill most of your dreams and have a great relationship with your children.
I went to a funeral of a lady of 75 years old about two weeks ago and this lady was born out of wedlock and her Catholic granny gave her hell - granny loathed and despised her - this lady upped sticks, married a Protestant in a Registry Office and went off to South Africa only to return several years ago. This lady in question really never ever recovered from the scathing attacks of the granny cos she told me so. My heart always went out to her.
