When it comes time for boots on the ground will UK troops be stationed in Basra again or is that a relatively quiet area now?

I don't think it could really be called a euphemism; however what's wrong with saying something akin to "sending in the troops"? This is not a criticism of your question, sandy; it's just that your use of it gave me the opportunity to ask.
