Why Am I No Longer Signed Into Ebay?

I've always been permanently signed in,yet this morning when I wanted to add something to my watch list I was asked to sign in. As luck would have it,I've forgotten my password. While waiting for a reset email,I checked my most recent email from eBay. I was able to go straight to my account with it. ...????
Is this some weird eBay problem? Should I reset password anyway?

There seems to be time out on sign-in validity these days pasta.

But why can I still access my account via an email from ebay.? Seems odd.

Maybe someone has used your computer and changed the settings or cleared the cache

Ebay randomly signs me out, it always has done in the 10 years or so i've been using the site. I have it set to remember my password though so even if I had forgotten it there would be no problem.

I'm active on Ebay and usually access the account from one of three computers I have. If I fail to access Ebay for 3 successive days on any one of the computers it requires that I "sign in". However, if I've entered Ebay in less than the three day limit from any of the other computers, it still lets me in with no sign in with the exception of the computer over the 3 day limit.. Ebay's system recognizes the computer your using to sign in.

Although I'm in the U.S., I'd expect a variation on the same theme in Britain or Europe...

even cookies that remain from one session to another include an expiry date so that if you haven't accessed the site for a while (depends on the site as to how long that might be) then you will need to sign in again

I never close down without signing out - I didn't know anyone just leaves their accounts open when they shut down, isn't that risky?

Didn't we all have to alter our passwords recently because there was some problem with hacking, or something like that. Don't really understand how it works so I just blindly do what they tell me.

Yes star, we did, it was during the summer - I remember it because I was out of the country when we had to do it.
